Abdul Rahman (politician, 1953)

Abdul Rahman (* 1953 ; † February 14, 2002 in Kabul ) was an Afghan politician .

Rahman was a major figure in the Afghan Northern Alliance . He became Minister for Aviation and Tourism in the Afghan interim government of Hamid Karzais .

Rahman was supported by a group of applied pilgrims on the Kabul airport lynched when he tried, the only aircraft the state Afghan airline Ariana to a flight to India to use. The pilgrims had been waiting for a flight to Mecca for days . Prime Minister Hamid Karzai suspected a conspiracy and announced that he would arrest members of the government. Rahman's successor was Mirwais Sadik .
