Abdullah Gymnastiar
Abdullah Gymnastiar (* 1962 in Badoeng , Java , Indonesia ), better known as Aa Gym (Aa means older brother ) is one of the most famous preachers of modern Indonesian Islam . Indonesia is the most populous Islamic state on earth.
Born the eldest of four sons of an officer, he first studied electrical engineering. As a successful businessman, he runs a wide variety of companies such as television studios and publishing houses. He became famous in 2000 through his sermons on Indonesian television.
His topics are self-control, conscience, tolerance, child rearing and management. As a representative of national reconciliation in times of the extremist Jemaah Islamiyah , he has also spoken in Christian churches.
His hobbies include aerobatics and skydiving .
He came under fire when he married a second time and defended his right to polygamy according to the Koran . He is the father of seven children.
