Abdullah ibn Nāsir ibn Chalīfa Āl Thānī

Abdullah ibn Nāsir ibn Chalīfa Āl Thānī ( Arabic عبد الله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني, DMG ʿAbd Allāh b. Nāṣir b. Ḫalīfa Āl Ṯānī ; * 1963 ) is a Qatari politician . As the successor to Hamad ibn Jasim ibn Jabir Al Thani , he has been Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Qatar since June 26, 2013. From 2005 to 2013 he was a minister in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Qatar.

Life

His father is Nasser bin Chalifa Al Thani . He studied at Durham Military College in England (Bachelor degree 1984) and at the Arab University of Beirut in Lebanon (Bachelor degree 1995). He is married and has six children.

The government of Abdullah bin Nasser bin Chalifa Al Thani came under international criticism in the course of the planned soccer World Cup in 2022 because of the Kafala system in Qatar. A Qatari newspaper reported in September 2015, citing an expert, that even after the reform law was approved by the Council of Ministers and included in Qatar's code of law with the approval of the head of state Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, there was still a good year until the new provisions came into force should pass.
