Abdurrahman Melek (* 1896 in Antakya , † January 13, 1978 in Ankara ) was a Turkish politician and Prime Minister of Hatay State .

He graduated from Sultaniye in Aleppo , studied at the University of Beirut and received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Istanbul . Then he started working as a doctor.

Melek was one of the leading personalities who campaigned for Hatay's integration into Turkey. He participated in the conference on the status of Hatay in Geneva. Ataturk appointed Melek Governor Hatays. At that time, Hatay was not yet a Turkish province; in his position as governor, he was preparing Hatay's integration into Turkey. After the establishment of Hatay State, he was appointed Prime Minister by President Tayfur Sökmen .

In the 6th, 7th and 8th legislative periods of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey , Melek was a member of parliament for the Gaziantep Province , and in the 9th term for the Hatay Province . Between 1958 and 1961 Melek sat on the board of directors of the Turkish Central Bank .

Abdurrahman Melek died on January 13, 1978 in Ankara.
