Abelitzmoor II is a small bog colony on the northern edge of the city of Aurich in East Frisia . The place is part of the Tannenhausen district .

The settlement is named after the Abelitz river , the name of which is made up of the ancient Germanic term * apa for water and the Frisian appellative Letze , which means flowing water. It is located about 2.5 kilometers from the center of Tannenhausen on the edge of the former raised bog.

The living space consists of three courtyards, which were built between 1913 and 1915 and served as a prisoner of war camp in both World War I and World War II . The inmates of the camp had to do cultivation work in the bog. Until 1930 the Abelitz-Moordorf Canal was used as a transport route for peat and fertilizers to Abelitzmoor II. After that, traffic on the stretch of water from Abelitzmoor II to Moordorf came to a complete standstill.

After being sold, the buildings are now all privately owned.

The neighboring colony Abelitzmoor I is located a few kilometers northeast of Abelitzmoor II.
