production
The water of the distillery belonging to the Speyside region comes from springs on Ben Rinnes . It has two mash tuns (12 t each) and six fermentation vats (70,000 l each ) made of stainless steel . Distillation takes place in two wash stills (21,120 l each) and two spirit stills (together 35,456 l), which are heated by steam. For the bearings are Sherry - and Bourbon barrels used. When Alfred Barnard visited the then young distillery in 1886 as part of his whiskey trip, he left detailed records of the facilities. At that time there was a wash still and a spirit still in operation, each holding 7300 and 5500 liters.

Aberlour a'bunadh | Single malt | o. indication | div. | 1997 | not cold-filtered, undyed, cask strength - the alcohol content varies, first fill oloroso cask |
The approximately 60% strong and very sherry-shaped bottling a'bunadh ( Gaelic for "origin") has a varying alcohol content. Four to five times a year, a number of First Fill Oloroso Sherry casks are selected by the Blendmaster, which are then married to the a'bunadh, the bottles are marked with the batch number and the individual alcohol concentration of the respective batch. The taste can vary significantly between the individual batches. Some older batches of a'bunadh are now traded at prices that are well above the original price. Batches 39 to 44 are currently available in stores (as of January 2013).
Furthermore, the distillery offers various special bottlings , especially for duty-free shops and export , and there are independent bottlings.
The Blend White Heather is made from the malt from Aberlour and is marketed by the Pernod-Ricar company.
