In addition to the publishing work, the ruckzuckbuch.de platform, which is also part of Monsenstein and Vannerdat, has offered book-on-demand services for self-publications as a self-publishing platform since 2000 ; the works appeared in the Octopus edition , in which around 2,000 authors have theirs Have published works. Many of the published works were produced in an in-house print shop.

In the scientific field, the publishing house also worked under hochschulverlage.de as a partner to universities, for which it operated series of publications and also the administrative implementation of entire university publishers. These included the Technical University of Ilmenau , the Westphalian Wilhelms University , the University of Saarland , the Technical University of Chemnitz , the University of Flensburg , the International School of Management Dortmund , the Heinz Nixdorf Institute and the University of Merseburg .

The above-mentioned website addresses of the three providers were bought up by former competitors and now lead to other platforms with similar offers or can no longer be accessed ( Edition Octopus ).

Memberships / engagements

Monsenstein and Vannerdat were members of TheCompensators, an association founded by scientists from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, which enables companies and private individuals to effectively offset their CO 2 emissions by canceling emission certificates.

According to a press release on January 23, 2013, the Monsenstein and Vannerdat publishing group launched the “FAIR public” certificate. With the new seal she wanted to put an end to the dubious pseudo-publishers and the so-called " Vanity Press ". According to this, participating companies should commit themselves to standards with regard to author rights, information about their offers and sustainability and fairness. A review committee made up of industry experts would have had to award the seal and, if necessary, withdraw it again. There is currently no evidence as to whether this “FAIR public” certificate was ever awarded or whether it will still be awarded after the Monsenstein and Vannerdat publishing group went bankrupt .
