Shutdown (process engineering)
In process engineering, shutdown is the transfer of a system from stationary operation to standstill.

Shutting down systems is an emission-related process that is partly regulated in ordinances. The ordinance on the incineration and co-incineration of waste (17th BImSchV) provides specific rules for shutting down waste incineration plants . The shutdown process is usually of subordinate importance compared to the start-up .
The travel time of a system ends when it is shut down. Just like starting up, shutting down is part of normal operation. Both processes are not part of normal , but regular operation .
The transition from operational readiness to revision or repair is also referred to as shutdown.
