Abid Sadykowitsch Sadykov ( Russian Абид Садыкович Садыков , English transcription: Abid Sadykov Sadykovich; born November 2 . Jul / 15. November  1913 greg. In Tashkent ; † 21st July 1987 ) was an Uzbek chemist , Academy President and politicians.

Life

Sadykow studied chemistry at the State University of Tashkent from 1932 to 1937 , where he obtained a Russian doctorate in the field of organic chemistry in 1946 (corresponds to the habilitation). He became internationally known for his work on bio-organic chemistry and especially on natural product chemistry . In 1947 he became a professor and elected to the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR . From March 1958 to April 1966 he was rector of the Tashkent State University. He was then president of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences from 1966 to 1984, where he headed the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry from 1973 to 1987.

Since 1966 Sadykov was a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for several years . He has received numerous state awards. In 1966 he became a correspondent and in 1972 a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1985 he was awarded the Academy’s Mendeleev Gold Medal for his work on substances isolated from cotton .
