Mendeleev gold medal
The Mendeleev gold medal ( Russian Золотая медаль имени Д.И. Менделеева ) was named after the Russian chemist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev . From 1965 to 1993 it was awarded every two years by the then Academy of Sciences of the USSR for outstanding achievements in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering . It has been awarded every five years since 1993.
