Abilio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

abilio is an application for the integration of different forms of mobility . It emerged from a collaboration between the Swiss Südostbahn AG (SOB ) and Siemens Schweiz AG. A route that includes various means of transport is calculated for the travel destination specified by the user. The app will be discontinued at the end of September 2019.

Functions

The use of the IBeacon technology enabled the Walk-IN function to be developed, which enables the use of a cross-association ticket between Südostbahn AG and the Lichtensteig – Wattwil – Ebnat-Kappel (BLWE) bus company . Via Bluetooth , travelers can purchase an electronic ticket with their smartphone that is billed to their credit card or PostFinance Card . The process in this form is a worldwide pilot project.

The swipe-in function enables tickets that are valid throughout Switzerland to be purchased. Completed Halbtax - subscriptions allowing the purchase of tickets at half price are respected. Required surcharges, day tickets or tariff changes can also be purchased. It is also possible to book concepts such as Park and Rail , connected park-sharing platforms and taxi rides.

history

The main goal for Südostbahn was to create contactless ticket sales. The first tests were carried out at the end of 2014 in cooperation with Siemens Schweiz AG . It was important to integrate the various public and private means of transport across the board in order to achieve the optimal travel route.

The beta phase took place from March to September 2017. The apps are available for Android and iOS, and tickets can also be purchased via the webshop.

In July 2019 it was decided that the app would be discontinued at the end of September.
