abiotic

Abiotic ( ancient Greek ἀ, a-, un- and βίος, bíos , life = "lifeless", "without life") describes processes and conditions, occasionally also objects in an ecosystem in which no living beings are involved.

Examples:

The application of the term to substances that are not produced by living things is less common . The term abiogenously is more common for this.

The term abiotic is mainly used to contrast biotic .
