Günther Wagner (agricultural scientist)

Günther Heinrich Wagner (born August 18, 1925 in Mitteldorf ; † April 29, 2004 ) was a German agricultural scientist , agronomist , biologist and university professor .

Life

He was born as a farmer's son in the small community of Mitteldorf in the Erfurt administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony . After attending school and high school in Nordhausen, he took part in World War II as a soldier from 1943. After the war he took up an agricultural apprenticeship and studied from 1946 to 1950 at the University of Jena. In 1959 he became director of the district agricultural school in Nordhausen in the Erfurt district . Up until 1965 he was primarily responsible for the training and further education of high school teachers for biology. For this purpose, he published the lesson units such as the basics of agricultural production and explanations of the technical terms botany . From the latter publication, the Botanik-Lexikon emerged in 1961 , which he published together with Rudolf Schubert and which appeared in twelve editions by 2000.

In 1965 he became a lecturer at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, where he taught didactics in agriculture and was significantly involved in the training of agricultural educators.

1968 Günther Wagner was at Herbert Hanke at the Humboldt University of Berlin to Dr. paed. after accepting an unscheduled internship to work on his dissertation in 1966. In this context he also acquired the Facultas Docendi . From 1971 he worked in the newly created area of ​​university education at the University of Jena. He retired in 1990 at the age of 65. He then supported the medical didactics working group at the Medical Faculty in Jena with publications, increasingly devoting himself to medical-historical topics.
