Above ground level
AGL is the abbreviation for above ground level .
In aviation , altitude information is provided with the addition AGL if it is an altitude above ground . In contrast, altitude information with the addition MSL or AMSL refers to the sea level ( above mean sea level , see altitude above sea level ). In both cases, the heights are generally given in feet (ft) in an internationally uniform manner . In aviation, height is often used when it comes to an altitude AGL and altitude when the altitude relates to MSL.
AGL is z. B. determined by means of a radar altimeter .
