The film shows a man who bets a race and wins once and loses once. Every time his bookmaker appears and either gives him his winnings or collects his money.

For Charley Grapewin , this short film marked the beginning of his long Hollywood career. The film drew a sequel called Chimmie Hicks and the Rum Omelet .
