Abraham Joly

Abraham Joly (born July 11, 1748 in Geneva ; † June 15, 1812 there ) was a Geneva doctor . He approved in 1774. From 1780 he was a member of the management and from 1787 administrator of the Hôpital général of Geneva. Abraham Joly rejected coercive measures against the mentally ill as early as 1787 . It is reported that, at his behest, the patients were no longer chained.
