Abraham Lehrer (also Abraham Josef 'Ebi' Lehrer; born on April 13, 1954 in New York City ) is chairman of the Cologne Synagogue Congregation , chairman of the Central Welfare Office of Jews in Germany (ZWST) and vice- chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany . His main job is to run a software company in Cologne .

Life

Abraham Lehrer's mother Fela, who came from Olkusz , survived the Auschwitz extermination camp , while his Warsaw- born father Isack fled from labor camps several times during National Socialism . Abraham Lehrer was born in New York City , the second child to the Lehrer couple . In the spring of 1954 the family returned to Germany and settled in Cologne . Between 1972 and 1979 Abraham Lehrer studied chemistry , and in 1984 he began a three-year program as a programmer . In 1988 he founded ADOR EDV- und Software GmbH in Cologne, of which he is the managing director .

Abraham Lehrer has been married since 1981 and has two children.

Public offices

Since 1969 he has been involved as Madrich in the youth group in the youth center of the Cologne synagogue community. He headed the Hebrew holiday camp, the Machanot of the Central Welfare Office for Jews in Germany in Bad Sobernheim and Oudelande (NL). In 1987 he became a member of the municipal council in Cologne's synagogue community and was then elected first deputy chairman of the municipal council. The community council appointed Abraham Lehrer as a delegate to the ZWST general assembly.

At the general meeting in 1996, Abraham Lehrer was appointed to the board of the Central Welfare Office for Jews in Germany. V. (ZWST) elected. There he headed the youth and education commission. In 2000, at the suggestion of Paul Spiegel , he took over the chairmanship of the ZWST, the umbrella organization of Jewish welfare for the more than 100 Jewish communities in Germany. Since 2003, Lehrer has also been a member of the board of directors of the Central Council of Jews , whose vice-presidency he has held since 2014.

On the occasion of World Youth Day 2005 , Pope Benedict XVI visited in Cologne as the first Pope a synagogue in Germany. As the organizer, Abraham Lehrer welcomed the Pope and gave a high-profile speech with a focus on warning and compensation to the head of the church.

The number 321 in the club name is explained by the year of the decree of Emperor Constantine , which allowed Jews to work in Cologne's city administration.
