The graduate badge of the MfS (blue version for graduates from other universities).

The graduate badges of the Ministry for State Security were badges of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) in the German Democratic Republic , which were awarded to university graduates. The badge has the shape of an isosceles triangle standing on its tip with a silver edge, the height of which is 41 mm and the width of 31 mm and is enamelled in blue or white, later painted, laid out. It shows the symbol of the MfS in its upper half. This colored symbol shows the flag of the GDR in the form of a shield and the sword behind it pointing downwards to the right. Together they form the symbol of the sword and shield of the party. The graduate badge was worn above and in the middle of the right breast pocket until 1983, next to or under state awards that had already been awarded. In 1983, the way the graduate badges were worn was changed so that the badge was now worn over all other state awards above the right breast pocket of the uniform in order to emphasize the importance of the badge.

The white version was awarded to graduates of the MfS University and the blue version to graduates from other universities.
