Ossett is a middle town in the Metropolitan Borough City of Wakefield in the English county of West Yorkshire . According to the 2001 census, it had a total of 21,076 inhabitants.

Ossett is located between Dewsbury and Wakefield , just off the M1 and about 15 km south of Leeds .

economy

Until the 1960s, coal mining was the main industry for the male population of Ossett. The second important branch of industry was the textile industry .
