Parking permit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The parking permit , sometimes also called a garage contract , enables the deliverer of a parcel delivery to leave parcels even when they are absent . All larger parcel services such as DHL , DPD , GLS , UPS offer the recipients parking permits.

Explanation

An authorization to leave parcels is an individual contract between the parcel service and the recipient. With the recipient's signature, he authorizes the parcel service to park the parcel or parcels at the agreed place, for example next to the front door. In this case, the parcel is parked, the delivery is acknowledged and the parcel is now deemed to have been properly delivered by the parcel service.

species

There are two types: the one-time and the general authorization to leave parcels. With the one-time approval, the one-time parking of the parcel of a certain shipper is approved and then the approval expires automatically. The general approval allows all future parcels from all senders to be stored for an unlimited period of time until the approval is revoked.

liability

If the parcel has been parked and has still disappeared, the deliverer is not liable , because the signature has released the parcel service from liability, so that damage settlement via the transport insurance is not possible. It is therefore advisable to be aware of the risk of parking permits. Instead, the option of a different delivery address could be used to ensure reliable parcel delivery and to be able to take advantage of the transport insurance in the event of loss.
