A Pitch (also: Off road ) is an area for parking a vehicle outside public traffic areas.
Definition of terms
Parking spaces that are completely enclosed with walls and roof and that can be locked are called garages . Covered parking spaces are also called carports .
Accumulations of parking spaces are known as parking spaces.
While plots always be located on private land surfaces for parking a motor vehicle on public roads as a parking lot , parking garage , parking deck and underground parking , parking stall designated parking bay, parking bay or parking lanes.
Parking space compulsory
When building on a property, a certain minimum number of parking spaces on the property or in the immediate vicinity must generally be proven in Germany and Austria, depending on the planned use. These parking spaces are referred to as necessary parking spaces . The number of parking spaces required results from the building regulations of the federal states or from the parking space ordinances or parking space statutes of the municipalities.
Necessary parking spaces on private land must, for. B. must be fixed in NRW and (according to special building regulation §122) individually and permanently marked. The traffic development must be secured.
Size of a parking space
Parking spaces are generally between 2.0 m (normal car parking space lengthways) and 3.5 m (parking space for people with disabilities) wide. Depending on the arrangement of the parking space, the required length can be between 5 m (perpendicular to the street) and 6.7 m (parallel to the street, when parking forwards). The German federal states have issued details on this in their garage regulations or special building regulations. However, the current set of rules for public parking spaces is RASt 06. The minimum size of the parking spaces currently (2015) no longer corresponds to the common car size.

Special parking spaces for mobile homes and the like
There are special motorhome parking spaces for motorhomes , motorhomes and caravan teams . Such spaces are z. B. held in areas of particular tourist interest. They are operated by local authorities or privately.
The offer of these parking spaces ranges from pure, appropriately marked parking areas to additional offers such as the supply of water and electricity as well as disposal options to offers that are similar to a campsite.
