Abu Thabit Amir

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abu Thabit Amir ( Arabic أبو ثابت عامر, DMG Abū Ṯābit ʿĀmir ; † 1308 ) was the fifth sultan of the Merinids in Morocco from 1307 to 1308 .

Abu Thabit Amir succeeded his grandfather Abu Yaqub Yusuf (1286-1307), but could not build on his successes. So he had to withdraw from the Abdalwadid Empire and lift the long-standing siege of Tlemcen . In addition, violent power struggles broke out within the Merinidenclan, to which Abu Thabit Amir fell victim after a short government. However, the economic and cultural development of the empire was hardly affected by the internal conflicts. He was succeeded by his brother Abu Rabia (1308-1310) and Abu Said Utman II (1310-1331).
