Abul Hasan (poet)

Abul Hasan (born August 21, 1947 in Barnigram ; † November 26, 1975 ) was a poet and journalist from East Pakistan and Bangladesh .

life and work

After studying at Brojomohun College in Barishal , he began studying at the University of Dhaka , which he did not finish. From 1969 he worked as a journalist for various newspapers, first at Ittefaq , from 1972 to 1973 at Ganabangla and from 1973 to 1974 at Dainik Janapad . In 1970 he had his breakthrough as a poet with first place at the Asian Poetry Competition , followed by the Bangla Academy Award in 1975 .

Even if Abul Hasan only wrote for ten years, he still has an important place in modern Bangladeshi literature. His subjects were loneliness, grief and separation. His major publications include: Raja Yay Raja Ase (1972) and Prithak Palanka (1975).

Posthumously, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1982 . The play Ora Kayekjan was only released in 1988.
