The winner of the 17th season of the European Football League was determined in the Mercedes-Benz Eurobowl XVII . For the fifth time in a row, the winning team was nicknamed Lions. After the title went to the Bergamo Lions in Italy in the past three years , this year's title holders were the Lions from Braunschweig, who celebrated their second Eurobowl victory after 1999.

As in the previous year, the venue for the Eurobowl was the city of Braunschweig, which was awarded the contract for two years in autumn 2001. The kickoff was on Saturday, July 5th, 2003 at 3 p.m.

MVP of the game was running back Kim Kuci, who ran a total of 97 yards in 14 attempts and scored two touchdowns .
