In the Eurobowl XVIII the winner of the 18th season of the European Football League was determined. The Vienna Vikings won against the Bergamo Lions at their home stadium by 53 to 20 and thus celebrated their first title win in their third participation in the final.

The encounter between the Bergamo Lions and the Vienna Vikings was not only the new edition of the Eurobowl XV from 2001, in 2002 and 2003 the two teams met each other in the semi-finals. While Lions won significantly in 2001 and 2002, the Vikings were able to prevail extremely narrowly in the previous year. With their fifth finals and three titles won, the Bergamo Lions caught up with the Hamburg Blue Devils , the best team in the history of the Eurobowl to date . The victory of the Vikings was the highest victory in a Eurobowl so far.

After the success of the Vienna Vikings in the semi-finals, Vienna was chosen as the venue for the Eurobowl. The kickoff was on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 5 p.m. Due to the participation of an Austrian team in the finals, the ORF decided to broadcast the Eurobowl live.

Running back Lance Gustafson for the Vikings, who scored three touchdowns , and wide receiver Peter Sangenette for the Lions, who was responsible for two touchdowns, were chosen as the MVP of the game .
