European Football League 2015

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Football League 2015 was the 29th season of the European Football League . It began on April 18, 2015 with the group games and ended on June 27, 2015 with the EFL Bowl II. With three teams, Germany was again the nation that was most strongly represented. In contrast to the previous season, Switzerland did not provide a team. In the EFL Bowl II, the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes and the Allgäu Comets faced two German teams. Last year's winner Kiel was able to defend its title with a 49:28 victory.

Attendees

The six participants were announced in early February 2015. As in the previous year, the GFL was most strongly represented with three teams. In addition to defending champion Kiel Baltic Hurricanes , the Cologne Falcons and the Marburg Mercenaries were registered. Spain was represented by last year's finalist Badalona Dracs and two teams came from the Netherlands this year with the Alphen Eagles and the Amsterdam Crusaders . With the exception of Amsterdam and Marburg, all teams were already in the EFL last year. However, these two teams in particular had the greatest successes in the EFL when it was still the top-class European tournament: both teams were already in the Eurobowl . The Crusaders even won it twice in the early 1990s.

Due to the poor financial situation of the Cologne Falcons, the Allgäu Comets received an offer from AFVD to replace them. The Kempten company then decided to make their first appearance on the international stage.
