mode

In the 2002 season, a qualification phase was played out in four divisions. The mode within the divisions was different. Each division identified two teams who then competed against each other in the quarter-finals. Thus each division provided a semifinal participant.

Qualifying round

Division 1

In Division 1, only two teams were seeded, which automatically reached the quarter-finals.

Division 2

In Division 2, the Braunschweig Lions were seeded for the quarter-finals. Second place for the quarter-finals was played out among five teams in three play-off rounds. Here the Donetsk Scythians prevailed.
