The Big6 European Football League 2016 was the 3rd season of the Big6 European Football League . It started on April 9, 2016 with the group matches and ended on June 11, 2016 with the Eurobowl XXX .

Attendees

In the Big6 2016 was compared to the preseason the team Flash de La Courneuve replaced by the Aix-en-Provence Argonautes. There were three teams from Germany, two from Austria and one from France in the field. It was the Argonautes' first participation in the Big6. The Berlin Adler, New Yorker Lions Braunschweig, Vienna Vikings and Swarco Raiders Tirol were founding members for the third time. It was the second participation for the reigning runner-up Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. All six participants have already been in the Eurobowl in the past .

mode

Initially, a change in the game mode was planned. In order to increase the number of games, semi-finals were originally intended to be played as well. With the cancellation of the semi-finals, the mode remained unchanged from previous years. After the group stage, the two group winners played the Eurobowl XXX .

Group stage

Group A

The Argonautes ran into financial difficulties shortly before the season started because the sponsor had not made an agreed payment. They also lost in Anthony Dablé , who moved to the NFL to the New York Giants , a top star who had only recently been brought from Braunschweig to Aix. This was reflected in the athletic performance and ultimately the game in Braunschweig that was almost canceled was only statistical in nature after the Lions had already prevailed against Vienna and thus reached the Eurobowl for the third time in a row.

Group B

As expected, the Berlin Eagles had absolutely no chance in their two games, so that in the end the "semi-finals" Tyrol against Schwäbisch Hall came. However, it showed that the Haller offense was too much weakened by the departures of Moritz Böhringer and Patrick Donahue (NFL) as well as Felix Brenner (end of career) and despite a good defensive performance, Tyrol was ultimately the clearly better team and thus moved into the final.
