European Football League 2011

The European Football League 2011 was the 25th season of the highest European competition in American football . The EFL started on March 26th with the preliminary round and ended on June 18th with the Eurobowl XXV . The Swarco Raiders Tirol won their third Eurobowl title with a 27:12 win over last year's winner Berlin Adler . This was the seventh title for an Austrian team. Austria thus once again drew level with the previous top nation Germany.

First, a qualifying round with four preliminary round groups was played, with the first group qualifying for the quarter-finals. In addition, four seeded teams, the semi-finals of the previous year , joined in the quarter-finals .

Attendees

For Germany the were German champions , the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in Division 2 and defending champion Berlin Adler at the start. With a total of four teams, the Danube Dragons (Division 1) in the group phase, as well as the Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna , the Swarco Raiders Tirol and the Turek Graz Giants in the quarter-finals, Austria has the most teams in a nation. In addition, the Czech club Prague Panthers , another team from the Austrian Football League, was represented in the competition. With the Calanda Broncos , the 2010 EFAF Cup winner , a team from Switzerland (Division 4) was also eligible for the EFL for the first time .
