The Spartiates d'Amiens , often called Amiens Spartiates in German-speaking countries , are a French American football team based in Amiens in northern France .

history

The Spartiates were founded in 1987 and started playing in the second division of the French association in 1988. After promotion to the first division for the 1993 season, they had to leave it two years later. With the win of the Casquet d'Argent (silver helmet) 1997 succeeded again the promotion of the highest national league.

In the 2004 season, the Spartiates reached the final of the French championship, the Casque de Diamant, in which they were able to defeat the then record champions Aix-en-Provence Argonautes with 41:31. Two more national titles followed in 2010 and 2012. In the following year, Amiens had to relegate to the second division.

Internationally, the Spartiates appeared in 2005 when they took part in the European Football League . She won her first win in this competition in 2011 against the Badalona Dracs , but then failed in the play-offs at the later Eurobowl winner, the Swarco Raiders Tirol . This was followed by participation in the semi-finals in the EFAF Cup 2012 and a preliminary round in the European Football League 2013 .
