EFL 2013

The Big6 European Football League 2014 was the first season of the newly created Big6 European Football League competition . The Big6 replaced the previous European Football League competition to determine the Eurobowl winner and thus replaced it as a top-class European competition. The concept of the Big6 provides that the six supposedly strongest teams in Europe compete against each other. In contrast to the European Football League, which continued to be hosted by the EFAF , the organizers of the Big6 were the participating teams and their national associations. However, the Big6 EFL was recognized by the EFAF. At the same time as these European team competitions, some other national associations took part in the newly created IFAF Europe Champions League , which, however, was much less staffed.

Attendees

The field of participants in the first season of the Big6 consisted of the four semi-finalists of the European Football League 2013 and was completed by the two participants of the German Bowl 2013 .

With Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna , the reigning Eurobowl title and record winner of the Eurobowl was in the starting field. Thanks to last year's finalist and three-time Eurobowl winner Swarco Raiders Tirol , both participants in the Austrian Bowl were in the Big6. The two strongest national leagues, the German and the Austrian, were each represented by two finalists from the previous year. With the three other former Eurobowl winners, New Yorker Lions (two titles), Berlin Adler and Calanda Broncos (one title each), all Eurobowl champions of the last eleven years were in the field. Only the German runner-up, the Dresden Monarchs , did not yet have any international successes.

Group stage

Group A

With the reigning Eurobowl champion and Austrian national champion Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna as well as two participants in the German Bowl, group A was the group to be assessed more strongly. After the first two games each ended with an away win and the New York Lions had a positive point difference, each of the three teams had realistic final chances before the decisive game.
