Course of the game
1st quarter (7–7)
The first quarter turned out to be very balanced. At the beginning of the game, two turnovers shaped the game. First an interception of the Berlin quarterback Kyle Callahan caught by Viking player Chauncey Calhoun and, in return, a fumble caused by Viking's running back Josiah Cravalho, which was recorded by the Adler Defense. In the resulting drive, the Berlin Adler scored their first touchdown with a 34-yard run by Talib Wise . The Vikings' offensive then bridged 59 yards in 5 moves and closed this drive with a 5-yard touchdown run by Chris James. Shortly before the end of this quarter, Adler kicker Benjamin Scharweit missed a 46-yard field goal.
2nd quarter (14-10)
Over long stretches of the second quarter, the Vikings presented themselves more successfully than the Berlin Adler on both sides of the ball, which can be seen from two touchdowns and captured interceptions on the Vikings' side. First the captures as linebacker erected defensive lineman Mike Brannon on a pass from Callahan, he wears about 67 yards into the end zone and then captures wide receiver Calhoun a 18-yard pass from Christoph Gross and also scored a touchdown. In the meantime, Benjamin Scharweit scores with a 37-yard field goal for the Adler.
Almost 2 minutes before half-time, a decisive scene occurred when the Vikings could not achieve another first down and had to punt the ball again to the Berlin Adler. In one minute and 42 seconds, the Adler bridged 93 yards in just four plays, which Kyle Callahan completed with a 47-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Emslander at the 21:17 break.
3rd quarter (7-14)
After successfully catching up at the end of the 2nd quarter, the Berlin Adler presented themselves much more confident in the 3rd quarter. This resulted in two touchdown runs, first from Talib Wise over 5 yards, then from Kyle Callahan over 24 yards. In between, Vikings pass recipient Chauncey Calhoun caught a 20-yard pass from Christoph Gross.
4th quarter (3-3)
The fourth quarter was characterized above all by a very even game of both teams and the dwindling strength due to the high temperatures of over 30 ° C, with the Berlin Eagles ultimately winning the game in two decisive scenes of the quarter. First, the Adler Defense stopped a Vikings play at the 7-yard line and prevented an impending touchdown. So Peter Kramberger, the Vikings' kicker, only had the option of equalizing at 31:31 with a 25-yard field goal.
Up to the last remaining second on the clock, the Vikings Defense was able to prevent the eagles from gaining points. The Berlin offense moved the ball in the last drive up to the 35-yard line of the Vikings. On the fourth and last attempt, Berlin decided on a decisive 52-yard field goal, which Benjamin Scharweit exploited and thus scored his team to the first Eurobowl title and himself to the most valuable player of the game.
