The Eurobowl XXIII was the final of the 23rd season of the European Football League . On July 11th, 2009 the Swarco Raiders Tirol and La Courneuve Flash from France faced each other. The game was watched by 6,500 people in Innsbruck's Tivoli Stadium, a mark never before reached in Austria. The free web stream was temporarily viewed by 2,500 viewers. The Raiders won the game 30-19. The Austrian running back Florian Grein was chosen as the most valuable player (MVP), who scored three touchdowns at 160 yards. The main referee was Perttu Hautala from Finland.

Course of the game

The entire game was dominated by the raiders' offense . The 18-year-old kicker Emmanuel Trinkl scored the first points of the game after seven minutes with a field goal . In the second quarter the Raiders were able to achieve another field goal to make it 6-0. The next points followed until just before half-time through a 1- yard - touchdown -Lauf by Running Back Florian Grein . The guests were able to carry the subsequent kickoff back to a touchdown. The attempted two-point conversion failed, however. Four seconds before the end of the first half, Florian Grein was able to extend his lead with a 3-yard run. So the Raiders went into the half-time break with an intermediate score of 20 to 6. Shortly before the end of the third quarter, Flash de la Courneuve scored a pass touchdown, followed by a touchdown run greins on the side of the Raiders. In the last quarter of the game, the Raiders were able to score a field goal again. The French guests shortened by a touchdown to 30 to 19. After a successful onside kick by Flash de la Courneuve, the French quarterback threw an interception, which was carried back by the Tyrolean cornerback Manuel Eisenführer . Then the Raiders could let the clock run down by kneeling down and won the game by 30 to 19. The victory represents the 6th Austrian Eurobowl victory in a row. By defeating the French champions, the Swarco Raiders took over the No. 1- Position in the European amateur football ranking of the EFAF . During the game the two raiders Matt Epperson and Emmanuel Marksteiner injured themselves . Both suffered a broken ankle.
