The Eurobowl XXII was the final of the 22nd season of the European Football League . On July 5, 2008, the Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna and the Swarco Raiders Tirol faced each other. It was the first purely Austrian final of the highest European club competition. The game was watched by 5,600 spectators in Innsbruck's Tivoli Stadium . The Raiders won the game 28 to 24. The Austrian running back Florian Grein was chosen as the most valuable player (MVP), who was able to set decisive accents for the victory of the Raiders with two touchdowns and 104 yards gained in both the running and the passing game. The main judge was Olivier Valongo from France .

Course of the game

1st quarter (14-6)

The Vikings Offense started very effectively with the first drive, which was successfully ended with three plays in 34 seconds with a pass from Mike Salerno to Daniel Kovacs to a 37-yard touchdown. After that, the Raiders offense bridged the field much more difficult. Characterized by many penalties, Florian Grein successfully completed the drive with a 12-yard pass from Marko Glavic after 4 minutes and 44 seconds with a touchdown. Robert Balazinec could not use the extra point , so the Vienna Vikings stayed in the lead. Before the end of the first quarter, Vikings running back Clinton Graham was able to extend the Vikings' lead to eight points with a 4-yard touchdown run.

2nd quarter (0-14)

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Raiders Defense was able to stop the Vikings before another visit to the end zone. However, Peter Kramberger scored with a field goal from 28 yards away. Andreas Pröller, a wide receiver of the Raiders, was able to shorten it to 7-14 with a 13-yard pass from Marko Glavic, as the Marko Glavic two-point conversion attempt was also successful.

But on the next move Clinton Graham scores again with a 4-yard run to the 14-24 break.

3rd quarter (7-14)

In the third quarter, the Raiders received the ball at the kickoff and were then able to carry it from the 39 yardline into the end zone in eight moves over 61 yards and 3 minutes 29 seconds. Marko Glavic finally turned this touchdown with a 1-yard run. Then the Raiders-Defense stopped the Vikings, which in the subsequent drive Florian Grein with a 4-yard touchdown run put the Raiders in the lead with 28-24 for the first time.

4th quarter (0-0)

Already the end of the third and the entire fourth quarter were marked by strong defense performances, with which both teams continuously caused Turnovers on Downs. 3:33 minutes before the end of the game, Vikings quarterback Philip Jobstmann threw an incomplete pass, which the Raiders got back into possession. The Raiders were able to achieve a first down, which was enough to run out of time and win the game. The ultimate success of the Raiders was mainly due to the fact that their defense in the second half of the game did not allow another point of the Vienna offense.

Thus, the Raiders from Innsbruck were able to win their first Eurobowl title, which the Vikings were able to bring to Vienna four times in a row.
