Florian Grein (born October 8, 1983 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian American football player for the Swarco Raiders Tirol . He played in the running back position . In 2009, 2008 and 2011 he was voted the most valuable player in Eurobowl XXII and Eurobowl XXIII , and he also played in the national team of Austria.

Career

Grein went through the Swarco Raiders' youth programs and played in the first team in Tyrol from an early age . Grein soon established himself as one of the most successful running backs in Austria. He played in 2000 and 2002 for the Austrian junior national team, which took third place. Grein was voted Most Valuable Player at the 2002 European Championship. In 2003 he was called up to Team Europe , a selection of the best European players, to play in San Diego at the Global Junior Championships against the USA, Canada, Mexico and Japan. He scored a touchdown against Japan. In 2004 he helped his team win their first championship title in the club's history. Due to his success, he was invited to various training camps of the NFL Europe . In one camp, however, Grein seriously injured his cruciate ligament. Later Grein was the starting running back of the Innsbruck team and the Austrian national team. In 2006 the Raiders won their 2nd championship title with Grein. In 2008 and 2009, Grein won the Eurobowl with the Raiders and was voted the most valuable player. In 2009 Grein was plagued by many minor injuries and lost the semi-finals of the Austrian league, but the team was able to defend the Eurobowl title against Flash de la Courneuve . 160 erlaufenen yards and 3 touchdowns Grein again MVP of the game was.
