Acácio Lino

Acácio Lino de Magalhães (born February 25, 1878 in S. Salvador de Travanca , Amarante , † April 18, 1956 in Porto ) was a Portuguese painter .

Career

He was a student of Marques de Oliveira at the Academy of Fine Arts in Porto. Study trips took him to France, Italy and Switzerland. After the death of the sculptor Teixeira Lopes , he took over his professorship at the Academy in Porto.

He devoted his early work mainly to landscape painting . Later he turned to the representation of historical subjects.

For the Sala do Império in the Palácio de São Bento in Lisbon, three paintings were created between 1921 and 1923. Further works can be found in the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea in Lisbon, in the Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis in Porto, in the Museu Grão Vasco in Viseu and in the Museu de José Malhoa in Caldas da Rainha.
