International eSport Federation
The International e-Sports Federation (abbreviated IESF) was 9 national eSports associations on 11 August 2008 during the eSports Symposium 2008 in Busan South Korea established. It works across cultures for the dissemination and recognition of e-sports, as well as for the introduction of regulations in e-sports. Competitions have been held on behalf of the IeSF since 2008. In 2009 the first IeSF World Championship took place. Founding members are the national esports associations of Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam (9 states). The number of members has now grown to 43 nations (as of February 2015). Germany left the association due to the inactivity of the German eSport Federation.

e-Sport World Championship of the IeSF
The International eSport Federation has held its own world championships since 2009. The disciplines held at the World Championships change regularly. They include, among other things, real-time strategy games , sports simulations or fighting games . Women only tournaments have been part of the program since 2013. In addition to the winners in the individual disciplines, the winning nation of the respective World Cup is determined at the end of each world championship using a cross-disciplinary point ranking.
