The Acarai Mountains , also spelled Acarahy or Akarai , in Portuguese Serra Acaraí , are a low mountain range in the Guiana Mountains , on the border between Guyana and Brazil ( State of Pará ). The mountains reach a height of up to 600  m and extend over a length of about 130 km in an east-west direction. It belongs to the northern catchment area of the Amazon basin . The entire area is covered with dense tropical rainforest and was first perceived in the late 1970sSatellite mapped.
