history
The company was founded in 1896 as Accumulatoren-Fabrik Oerlikon and has specialized in the development and manufacture of accumulators and batteries from the very beginning . From 1917 lead was recovered in the company's own facility by recycling waste and used batteries.
The first two takeovers took place in 1970 with the purchase of Plus AG, which was founded in 1935, and in 1992, when the Accumulatoren-Fabrik Oerlikon acquired Electrona SA , which was also based in Boudry and also founded in 1935 . From 1995 the group of companies appeared under the common company logo Accu Oerlikon . In 1997 the name of the company was changed to Accu Oerlikon AG and in 1998 to Accu Holding AG . In 1999 Accu Holding took over Deta Batteries AG and integrated it into the group.
After the operational units of Oerlikon Stationär Batteries AG and OEB Traktionsbatterien AG were sold to EnerSys in 2009, the company became a real estate company. In 2011, Zug-based 1C Industries Zug AG acquired a majority stake. This marked the beginning of the industrial realignment of Accu Holding AG.
In February 2017, the company had to file for bankruptcy with the Hochdorf bankruptcy office.
