AcetoneISO is free software for creating and editing ISO-9660 memory image files . In addition to the original KDE version, there is also a GNOME version, xAcetoneISO2 .

Functionality

With AcetoneISO, the content of image files can be accessed in various formats, the content can be integrated into the file system, the images can be written to optical media and images can also be created. In addition to the eponymous ISO-9660 format, Nero's NRG, BIN , MDF , IMG and other relevant formats can also be processed. The images can be integrated using FUSE without administrator rights.

Availability

It is distributed as free software for Unix-like operating systems, also in source code, under the conditions of Version 3 of the GNU General Public License (GPL). In many popular Linux distributions , it can be installed directly from the standard package sources.

development

It is developed in C ++ under the direction of Marco di Antonio and has a  graphical user interface based on Qt 4.

Its development began as a shell script for integrating and unmounting an ISO image in the file system. Version 0.1 was released on August 29, 2006. For version 1.0, which appeared one day later, the scripts were rewritten and provided with a graphical user interface and support for other formats was added. Version 1 of the AcetoneISO2 series was released on June 7, 2007, initially under a Creative Commons license. Version 1.0.2 of August 21, 2007 switched to version 3 of the GPL. For version 2.0.0 (January 24, 2008) the application has been ported to C ++ and Qt 4.
