Achareus

Achareus ( ancient Greek Ἀχαρεύς ) is a pankratiast of Greek mythology .

Achareus is mentioned in Hyginus Mythographus as part of a list of the origins of various agons . Heracles is said to have established a gymnastic agon in Olympia for Pelops , the son of Tantalus . He is said to have measured himself against Achareus in an all- round battle ( παμμάχιον Pammachion ), which later became known as Pankration .
