Achatinella caesia is an extinct species of snail from the on the island of O'ahu endemic terrestrial snails genus Achatinella .

description

Achatinella caesia achieved a case length of 18.3 mm and a case diameter of 10.6 mm. The sturdy case was left-hand wound, imperforate, egg-shaped, conical, shiny and grooved. The white and beige lines gave the bowl a grayish appearance. The apex was a bit pointed. The spindle was curved conically. The seam was edged and slightly indented. There were 6½ arched turns. The central spindle fold was white and moderately developed. The mouth was oval in shape and white on the inside. The hem of the mouth was thickened on the inside and had a curved, tapering, brown outer edge. The spindle edge was widened and grown together.

distribution

Achatinella caesia was found in the Waimea, Kahuku, Kahana, Hakipuu and Waikane regions of Oʻahu .

die out

Achatinella caesia died out shortly after 1900. Presumably, over-harvesting by snail collectors and habitat destruction contributed to their disappearance.
