Achim Haag

Achim Haag (born May 26, 1955 in Aachen ) is a German lawyer, President of the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e. V. (DLRG), local politician and as such mayor of the Altenahr community .

Life

Haag, who comes from Aachen, is married and has a daughter. After studying law and completing his legal clerkship, he became a councilor and senior councilor in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Agriculture. In 1990 he took over the position of Head of Division in the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Europe of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, before he was head of Division for Labor, Youth, Social Affairs, Health and Agriculture in 1992 for one year. From 1993 to 1995 Haag was an employee of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in Bonn.

In July 1995, Haag became the first elected mayor of the Altenahr community. He was re-elected in February 2003 and took up his third term in July 2011. In September 2002 he was made an honorary citizen of the Hungarian partner community Martély.

Haag joined the DLRG in 1974. First he was deputy legal advisor in the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association from 1987 to 1990. From 1992 to 1998 he was chairman of the DLRG youth in Rhineland-Palatinate. From 1998 to 2001 he held the office of Vice President and from 2001 to 2012 the office of President in the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association. In 2009, Haag became legal counsel at the federal level. In October 2013 he was elected Vice President of the DLRG and since the death of the President of the DLRG Hans-Hubert Hatje in February 2017, he has been Executive Vice President. On October 21, 2017 he was elected President of the DLRG. In 2018, Achim Haag was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his special voluntary work.
