Achterdiekpark
The Achterdiekpark is a small park in Bremen , in the Bremen-Oberneuland district . The park is approximately 8 hectares and includes seven ponds. It is sponsored by the private initiative Achterdiekpark e. V. entertain.
history
The area of the Achterdiekpark was used for agriculture until 1961. An animal trading company was operated here from 1961 to 1966, and finally the Bremen Zoo from 1966 to 1973 . In 1976, a citizens' initiative association for the protection of the former zoo area was founded with the aim of maintaining and further developing the area as a park. The idea of nature conservation should be taken into account and a local recreation area created for the citizens of Bremen.
In 1978 a football field was created and in 1980 a playground. The club was founded in 1981 in Achterdiekpark e. V. renamed. In 1993, the association participated in the proceeds of the Bürgerpark raffle for the first time.
Situation today
The aim of the association is to bring the diversity of the north German landscape closer to the citizens of Bremen. The area is under landscape protection . Flora and fauna are protected taking into account environmental and nature conservation issues. But also the recreational value in nature for the city dwellers is a goal set by the association. The network of trails in the area is designed in such a way that visitors can easily reach the scenic corners by foot or bike and experience nature there. An old wood, supplemented by many newly planted trees and bushes, and various pools with a variety of amphibians characterize the nature park. Frogs, toads, newts and dragonflies have found a new habitat in this wetland over the past few years. The existence of water bodies is particularly important because it ensures the chances of survival of various animal and plant species in our modern, polluted industrial society.
In the long term it can be assumed that new buildings will be built around the park. It is to be expected that more people living in the immediate vicinity of the park will also use it more intensively. This also applies to a growing number of children who use the playground and football field. There are fears that the increased number of visits to the park will overload the infrastructure, so that an expansion of the green areas would be desirable.
