Acquanetta

Acquanetta (actually Burnu Acquanetta even Burnu Davenport , * 17th July 1921 in Cheyenne , Wyoming ; † 16th August 2004 in Ahwatukee , Arizona ) was an American actress , in 1946 for her role in Tarzan and the Leopard Woman a high profile attained. Contrary to popular belief, Acquanetta was not a stage name.

Life

Acquanetta came to New York in the late 1930s and worked as a model for the Powers Agency. Titled as the Venezuelan volcano , Acquanetta of Indian descent (her mother belonged to the Arapaho ) received a contract with Universal Studios , which was interrupted by two marriages in 1945 (and the birth of a son in 1947) and 1951. She left Hollywood after a third wedding with a wealthy car dealer. Four children are from the marriage, which divorced in 1985. With her husband she produced commercials for his businesses; in addition, she hosted a Friday evening program on a local television station in Arizona, in which she accompanied feature films. In 1974 a volume of poems was published, Tha Audible Silence .

Burnu Acquanetta died on August 16, 2004 at the age of 83.

Trivia

The obituary for Acquanetta published in the New York Times is the basis of the opera Acquanetta by the American composer Michael Gordon, which premiered on June 26, 2005 at the Aachen Theater under the direction of Paul Esterházy .
