Acromyrmex is a genus of leaf-cutting ants and belongs to the subfamily of the node ants (Myrmicinae), and for tribes of Attini . A well-known representative is Acromyrmex octospinosus .

The colonies of some species are significantly smaller than those of Atta spp. Also coming Acromyrmex TYPES ago not only in tropical areas but can penetrate where they stand rather low temperatures almost to the temperate zone of South America.

According to Camargo, female Acromyrmex workers are fertile and can lay eggs that will become males. This happens regularly after the queen's death.
