Active sourcing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Active Sourcing is a concept of human resources , which in the recruitment is used. Active Sourcing stands for all measures to identify promising employees on the external job market , in which the company actively tries to come into personal contact with potential applicants and employees and to build up a lasting relationship with the applicants. The aim is to retain applicants through personal contact until they can be recruited. The retention prevents talent from migrating to competitors during the recruiting phase. In contrast, there are more traditional, passively oriented methods of personnel recruitment in which recruiters tend to wait passively for applications.

How Active Sourcing works

Active Sourcing shows parallels in its approach to the methods of personnel consulting . It is specifically investigated where target persons are, e.g. B. in competitive companies and at congresses. Identified persons will be contacted. This can be done both offline and online via social media . With active sourcing, the talents are collected in a structured manner in a talent pool so that the recruiters have a constant overview of the number of applicants, their data, status and contact history. A common instrument of active sourcing is the employee referral program .

Benefits of active sourcing

Active sourcing measures can also reach passive candidates. This gives companies the opportunity to specifically discover the talents. In addition, the talent pool can be used directly for personnel requirements. Employers do not have to start the search from scratch and save time. The cost factor also plays a role, as there is no need to post a job advertisement with this concept.

Disadvantages of active sourcing

Due to the need for thorough research, Active Sourcing takes more time than other HR concepts. There is also the risk that the candidate will feel annoyed by the contact and that this will cast a bad light on the company.
