Acton Reynald Hall 1826

Acton Reynald Hall is a country house in the village of Acton Reynald in the English county of Shropshire . English Heritage has the house built at the beginning of the 19th century as Historic Building II *. Grade listed.

The Corbet family gave up their nearby family residence, Moreton Corbet Castle, around 1800 after their 17th century country house was enlarged and modernized for family use. Sir Andrew Corbet commissioned the architect John Hiram Haycock (1759-1830) to design the new country house. He designed it in a neo- Jacobean style. The eastern entrance facade with seven bays and three floors contains three bays and a Tuscan vestibule from the period 1610 to 1625. The main building, which dates from around 1800, was expanded to include wings for servants in 1840 and further improvements in 1893.

The entire village of Acton Reynald was demolished in the 1840s along with a number of farms to make way for the park.

From 1919 to 1995 a girls' school was housed in the country house. Today it's a private home again.
