Adır Adası , formerly Lim ( Armenian Լիմ կղզի Lim kghzi ) is an island in Lake Van in eastern Turkey . During the Armenian genocide in 1915, up to 12,000 Armenian women and children fled to the island within three days.

The Armenian Apostolic St. George Monastery ( Sourp Kevork ) was built in 1305 and expanded in 1621 and 1766, it currently only consists of ruins. The island also contains a cemetery made up of Armenian kachkars .
