AdMob is a company that is dedicated to mobile advertising ( mobile advertising has specialized). The name is a suitcase word from the English words "advertising" and "mobile". The company was founded by Omar Hamoui and later taken over by Google . The company is headquartered in Mountain View , California . With more than 40 billion advertisements per month, more than 200 billion advertisement requests per month worldwide, the use of more than a million apps and over a million advertisers, the platform is one of the world's largest providers of m-commerce. AdMob is available for Android , IOS , Flash Lite , Windows Phone and mobile websites . In addition, the Unity engine and Cocos2d are supported.

functionality

The platform enables banner advertising , promotional videos and advertising texts to be integrated into mobile apps , which usually call for a call to action ( monetization ). The placement can be individually adjusted and you can choose from existing layouts. Individual ads can be blocked and activated. The Firebase software is used to analyze the data . In-app rewards (such as the award of points, virtual money, avatars, activation of levels, etc.) can make ads more interesting for users.

history

While Omar Hamoui was attending Wharton School , he was already grappling with the concept. The first version appeared on April 10, 2006. In November 2009, Google took over the rights to the platform for 750 million US dollars. The full acquisition was completed on May 27, 2010. Even Apple had in the same year an interest in the acquisition of the platform, but was outbid by Google. Previously, Google tried the company AdWhirl (also known as Adrollo), which specializes in advertising for IPhone apps. More than $ 1 billion has been paid out since July 2012.

On 16 May 2013, Google announced a restructuring of AdMob on the company's developer conference Google I / O on. Here, other technologies from other platforms such as AdSense and AdWords are to be used to help app developers more to build or expand their business.
